A clear and distinctive brand that connects with people is a rare and lucrative thing. Think about M & S – Your M& S, Mcdonalds – I’m loving it, Tesco – every little helps, L’Oreal – cause your worth it. They are all carefully thought out to match their companies offering to become part of the corporate brand.
Often companies get stuck on a name. They want the name to say in one or two words exactly what they do. However most of the biggest companies in the world do not say what they do in their title name. Orange, Chanel, Primark to name a few. What they do have in common is that they all have heavily branded their product to make it recognisable and then marketed it strongly. Most have strong straplines.
A little know fact is that the London Olympic Brand cost £400,000, staggeringly the new BP logo cost £4.6 million. Interestingly one of the best known icons is the Nike Swoosh which was produced for an amazing $35. We are definitely in the Nike price bracket!
